In Indonesia, It's Hard to Win an Argument with Older People Even Though You're right.

So Indonesia is country full of cultural and moral values. And one of the cultural values that we have and need to respect no matter what is that we have to show ultimate respect to people who are older than us. So then it's a bit hard to actually win an argument with somebody older than you even though you're right. Especially if that somebody is a really old somebody who came from the 70s or 80s. I mean the cultural value itself isn't necessarily bad. If anything, it's actually good and it makes a lot of sense. But on the actual field, the elders tend to think they're always right just because they've lived longer and experienced a lot more in life.

Well some elders aren't like that I have to admit. Some of them are really open-minded and for that very reason I feel incredibly grateful. But those who think that the road they venture are the best, they suck. A lot. And to change this tradition would take a great deal of time. And by a great deal of time, I mean a great deal of time. We probably need to wait until their whole generation are off the Earth.

I've tried to reason with a lot of elders about what I think is right and what most people think is right with appropriate reasons of course. But hey, guess what? Some of them are really really annoying. And I couldn't even begin to tell you how annoying they are. I have no idea where to start and what words to use. I mean my incredibly annoying PE teacher dogmatised each and every one of us with a theory (or a fact to her) that she believed is right. She said that push ups can make you taller. Now believe me when I said this but I've done my research and in every website I found it said that push ups can't make you taller and have no effects whatsoever in your height development. I'm seriously too tired to pick a fight with her but the most important thing is that I know she is wrong. She IS wrong.

Anyway, that's just how I think. And I'm not as closed-minded as that unbelievably annoying PE teacher of mine so feel free to send me your opinions and suggestions, dear readers. Have a nice day.

Speech Script: Being an Introvert

Hey, Guys. I thought I'll share another speech script today. I used this script when I was competing in a competition held by a Senior High in Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Area. I got 1st in that competition so I think this one is pretty good. And I also wanna say that in this speech script I slipped in a little personal story of mine. So it's gonna be a little hard if you're going to copy it haha... So here you go. I’ve always felt that I’m different compared to most people. At least compared to most students in my school. On break time, they like to gather in groups and gossip about someone or chat about the current trends. I prefer not to. If I necessarily have to get involved in a group chat outside my class, I always try not to do the unnecessary. Not to talk too much. Some people say that I’m shy and weird. Some even say I’m arrogant and antisocial. The truth is, I’m an “introvert”. So ladies and gentlemen, the honourable judges, and my fellow competitors, this morn...

Do you take notes in class?

Hi! It's been a hell of a long time, hasn't it? But here I am, finally back again. You know those people who make Blogs, writes on them, until they finally get either tired or bored or busy and their Blog gets deserted like the most quiet part of the Sahara? Well the first time I decided to make this Blog I was determined to not become that type of person. Anyway, I'm not really into a deep, philosophical talking right now. I'm in a more of a trivial mood if there even is such a thing. And in having this mood, a question just hatched at the top of my head. Do you take notes in class? I mean seriously. Do you take notes when you're studying or do you make notes of what your teacher writes on tho front board? Because I do. But I never revisit my notes. I have a number of friends that like to take notes of everything that has been either spoken or written in class. Some of them even go to extensive methods when it comes to note-taking e.g. buying expensive statione...

Fear & The National Finals

Fear. That thrilling sensation triggered by your brain that goes down your spine and from there, it swarms every centimetre cubic and square of your flesh and skin. That unsettling feeling translated into a consistently rapid heartbeat. It's one of those set of letters that you definitely don't want engraved in your mind. It's that thing that you don't want infecting your thoughts and ideas. It is the very embodiment of "not good". And those words above are probably an exaggeration. But let's be honest, some of it is definitely true and worth nodding your head towards. Whilst I am writing this blog, I am feeling fear. It has little to do with the blogpost itself. But it has everything to do with the Junior High School's national finals that is to be conducted on Monday, nationwide throughout the whole Indonesian archipelago. And you might wonder, what's so frightening about an exam? I mean, towards a certain extent, and to some people, it is sl...
