A Few Thoughts on Instagram (and Instagrammers)

Instagram is an absolutely free and highly-diverse platform. You can literally post anything there from something geeky like a lightsabre to something as relatable as a quote. Some people post completely random shit. But a considerable amount of others post pictures that could show-off their photography tekkers. Nah, I'm just kidding. I mean some others post moments that are captured as pictures so the whole wide world could acknowledge it, and therefore generating more of these interactions. Some people do this for pure fun and joy. But some others do this to take pride over their "photographic tekkers" (yup, this is where my sentence from before should've ended up in the first place).

I mean it's not like I'm against it. Some people do have impressive photographic vision and camera knowledge. Those people do deserve to be praised and I could almost say they have the right to be cocky if it weren't for the fact that being cocky is one of the truest signs of a prick. But I can't help but notice a particular phenomenon. I notice this a lot in my country and I have very little idea about how things are in other countries. In Indonesia there are a lot of these "Instagrammers" that aren't actual photographers but they seem to fit the role as a model a lot more. Simply because of the fact that around 90% of their Instagram feeds consists of themselves. This implies that the one actually holding the camera and pressing the shutter button isn't themselves. "But aiming and pressing the shutter button isn't that hard. So if the owner of an Instagram account wants to be the subject of their photos then it wouldn't be a big deal if somebody else took their place as the one pressing the shutter button.", you might argue. I am completely fine with that. But what I also notice is a big portion of this group doesn't set the exposure of the camera themselves (which makes things worse). So basically, there is absolutely no reason to credit them for their "photographic tekkers". So this whole problem wouldn't be a problem if they simply admit that they are models.

But guess what? Nope. They take absolute credit for the photo. They crave likes over pictures of themselves. They crave likes over picture that aren't shot by themselves let alone if they did not set the exposure themselves (let alone if nobody did set the exposure at all (Prime Mode)). Isn't that simply annoying? Nah, let me rephrase. ISN'T THAT EXCRUCIATINGLY ANNOYING?

This huge problem just goes to show how massive the amount of pricks in my country are. I have no objection at all for anyone being the model as long as they do not take credit for the photo. You can crave for likes and comments and what not but not for the "photographic tekkers". Because there are a lot of people out there tweaking their shutter speeds and their apertures and their ISO to get good pictures. Some or even most of them are still beginners but they have the courage to actually do the tweaking and take the picture instead of just be in it to promote narcissism. And yes, the photos from these people might not be good. In fact they might be disgusting. But you know what? They fucking took it themselves. With their own expertise, with their own effort.

So for you models out there that like to take credit for the pictures that have you in it, start realising how insignificant you are compared to the beginner photographers out there who takes shitty pictures but actually takes pictures. Sincerely, me.

Speech Script: Being an Introvert

Hey, Guys. I thought I'll share another speech script today. I used this script when I was competing in a competition held by a Senior High in Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Area. I got 1st in that competition so I think this one is pretty good. And I also wanna say that in this speech script I slipped in a little personal story of mine. So it's gonna be a little hard if you're going to copy it haha... So here you go. I’ve always felt that I’m different compared to most people. At least compared to most students in my school. On break time, they like to gather in groups and gossip about someone or chat about the current trends. I prefer not to. If I necessarily have to get involved in a group chat outside my class, I always try not to do the unnecessary. Not to talk too much. Some people say that I’m shy and weird. Some even say I’m arrogant and antisocial. The truth is, I’m an “introvert”. So ladies and gentlemen, the honourable judges, and my fellow competitors, this morn

Creating Contents and Getting it Out

Whether it's writing, typing, or making videos, getting stories out there into the public is a form of content creating. The stories in the form of words that you write or type and the videos that you film and produce will be seen by people and therefore your content would serve it's purpose. It could be an entertaining story, or something that has educational value, or anything. Content creating is very fun and it could "force" you to keep pushing your boundaries until you find new ones. Personally, I am a big fan of content creating. Youtube videos, blog writings, news, all that sort of stuff. I think it's one of the easiest ways of sharing positivity to other people around the world (although there are definitely pricks out there who uses this opportunity to spread negativity and fear). As long as you're contents are intended to affect people positively, content creating and content sharing would have so many benefits not only to the creator, but also to

My Not So Professional Take on Indonesia's Education System

So recently I just had this little realisation. I was about to call it an epiphany but I thought using that word would be a dramatisation, so for the moment let's just call it a minor realisation. So I live in Indonesia which if you don't know already, is a developing country. We have so many things to be proud about like our astonishingly diverse culture and our unique culinary taste. But education isn't one of those things. Education is far from those things. Like our education sucks. I don't exactly know the reason to that. I mean I haven't done a research or anything but I might have some ideas and hypotheses to the situation. The human resource, the gap between islands Firstly, I think the problem comes from the not-so-advanced framework of the whole education system itself. Indonesia comes 4th globally in terms of population. There's about 250 million of us. And yet, our education system doesn't have enough human resource to support
