My Not So Professional Take on Indonesia's Education System

So recently I just had this little realisation. I was about to call it an epiphany but I thought using that word would be a dramatisation, so for the moment let's just call it a minor realisation. So I live in Indonesia which if you don't know already, is a developing country. We have so many things to be proud about like our astonishingly diverse culture and our unique culinary taste. But education isn't one of those things. Education is far from those things. Like our education sucks. I don't exactly know the reason to that. I mean I haven't done a research or anything but I might have some ideas and hypotheses to the situation. The human resource, the gap between islands Firstly, I think the problem comes from the not-so-advanced framework of the whole education system itself. Indonesia comes 4th globally in terms of population. There's about 250 million of us. And yet, our education system doesn't have enough human resource to support...

Fear & The National Finals

Fear. That thrilling sensation triggered by your brain that goes down your spine and from there, it swarms every centimetre cubic and square of your flesh and skin. That unsettling feeling translated into a consistently rapid heartbeat. It's one of those set of letters that you definitely don't want engraved in your mind. It's that thing that you don't want infecting your thoughts and ideas. It is the very embodiment of "not good". And those words above are probably an exaggeration. But let's be honest, some of it is definitely true and worth nodding your head towards. Whilst I am writing this blog, I am feeling fear. It has little to do with the blogpost itself. But it has everything to do with the Junior High School's national finals that is to be conducted on Monday, nationwide throughout the whole Indonesian archipelago. And you might wonder, what's so frightening about an exam? I mean, towards a certain extent, and to some people, it is sl...

A Few Thoughts on Instagram (and Instagrammers)

Instagram is an absolutely free and highly-diverse platform. You can literally post anything there from something geeky like a lightsabre to something as relatable as a quote. Some people post completely random shit. But a considerable amount of others post pictures that could show-off their photography tekkers. Nah, I'm just kidding. I mean some others post moments that are captured as pictures so the whole wide world could acknowledge it, and therefore generating more of these interactions. Some people do this for pure fun and joy. But some others do this to take pride over their "photographic tekkers" (yup, this is where my sentence from before should've ended up in the first place). I mean it's not like I'm against it. Some people do have impressive photographic vision and camera knowledge. Those people do deserve to be praised and I could almost say they have the right to be cocky if it weren't for the fact that being cocky is one of the truest sig...

Accomplishments are Always About The Hard Work?

They say that if you want something really bad you gotta work really hard. That notion has always been planted in me since I was little. Whether it's by my parents, teachers, idk you name it. They say that an accomplishment is always about the hard work. And so when there's a test coming up at school my classmates always study real hard. Almost too hard if I'm honest. Pile of books, late nights, those kinda stuff. I just happen to be one of those people who don't actually put in that much effort but I seem to appear somewhere at the middle-high rank. Well, okay, you might argue that's because of luckiness or because I might be talented or whatever. But to be honest, I don't think so. http://www.clipartbest.com/cliparts/9Tz/o9a/9Tzo9anXc.jpeg You see, compared to my other friends, you can say that I'm like one of the laziest. And lazy people are almost certainly born with a major disadvantage if it weren't for the fact that they seem to figure out...

Why I Think Selflessness is So Important

As you guys know, or might not know (in that case I would gladly tell you), we live in this planet called Earth. Thing is, we don't live here alone, or with just a few family members, neighbours, or other people who are physically and mentally close to us. We live here with a lot of people. 7 billion in that respect. And because we have more human from time to time inhabiting this Earth, competition grows within us. And with competition, comes ignorance. We feel the need to care less about the people who don't matter to us directly. Individualism. Most of us are overshadowed by the notion that if we give room to care about somebody else (who is in need of care) then we would have less room for ourselves and therefore we might lose this so called "competition" because our contenders might not think about other people. So then the "logical" move would be to not let that happen because of course we want to win the competition. But to be honest, I don...

Friends & Trust

I only have a few friends. I mean at my school there's about 320 people in my year alone and I do know most of them. But I wouldn't say that I have a lot of friends. I have a lot of acquaintance, yes. But not a lot of friends. And the very reason for this is trust. I'm just that kind of guy who doesn't like to be disappointed by the people that I trust. Especially if I trust them a lot. And my preventive action to that is sort of qualifying the people that I know so I'm sure I'm being friends with the people that I can actually trust. In Indonesia, having a a few friends is not really good in the social point of view. In fact if I were to say so myself, being an introvert or showing too many acts of introversion is like a social crime. My teacher once called me arrogant and selfish because I don't have a lot of friends. And that same exact teacher would probably still say the same now. The thing is that those people don't understand how it feels to b...

Anarchists? Tell Them to F Off.

Have you ever met people who just don't like to settle problems? If there's a problem they just want to prove that they're the best compared to the other party. And the thing is they don't really care if they're right or wrong. I mean even if you are the right side at a certain matter then you still don't have the right to actually punch someone in the face or shove them off your way. Let alone if you're wrong. Especially if you're wrong. And the fact that these anarchists don't think just annoys me like hell. I have encountered an anarchist before. And they all lack intelligence if not simply brainless. So I've had a certain problem with this anarchist. Let's just call him "Rodney" cause that name seems appropriate. So once upon a time this Rodney guy appeared in my life and tried to make some mess in it which he accomplished doing. I tried to talk with this guy. Figure out what he wants and maybe find a solution to our case. But...
